As I attend Circuit Control in Dresden almost every year, there is a lot to report from this year's soldering festival. Below you can see what I soldered while my stay. The festival took place from September 09 to 14, 2024 at the Roter Baum venue at Großenhainer Str. 93 in Dresden.
As soon as I arrived, I started soldering the DroneSlider developed by FlipFloater from Basel. A touch sensitive drone synth with 7 octaves per tone. The pitch of each tone is adjustable and has a 4070 ring modulation and a distortion. Sounds fucking great and makes a lot of fun jamming around.
Steffen Koritsch from Noisio found a circuit board and components from his first development Quirk from 2014 in his suitcase. A super lively fuzz delay that breathes a little life into any boring sound.
Florine from RGBastler brought the video glitch tool Synchopath to her workshop. I will have a lot of fun with this tool for a long time because I still have some old RBG video devices such as VHS recorders, video cameras and similar tools. RGBastler is a collective formed by media artists Florine Mougel (FR) and Andreea Vladut (RO).
The Starvation Synth by Ralf Schreiber from Köln is a simple CMOS-based three-voice mini synthesizer whose oscillators are oscillators are coupled with contact loudspeakers. The battery voltage can be reduced via a potentiometer, resulting in unstable circuit states that generate variable and organic rhythms. The synth consumes almost no power and can be operated with and can be operated with weak, almost empty batteries. I enjoy it so much because I experience new facets of sound every time I play it. A wow tool!
This year I had the pleasure of meeting Marc Dusselier aka dusjagr for the first time. I like his developments and his political approach to DIWO. I also like his approach to realizing existing projects with fewer components and the same results in sound. The Wurmophon 01 should help me to listen to “worms” crawling in the earth. A very fine piezo amp.
